after college, i want to spend my life making a difference. i don't want fame out of this. i simply want to write articles so incredibly truthful and blunt that the american people have to listen. they have to own up to themselves and fix their problems because of what i'm writing. i know this might seem like an incredibly far fetched idea."if they don't listen to anyone now, why you you think they'll listen to you later?" because in five years time, we will be inevitably on the verge of collapse, and i refuse to sugarcoat that fact any longer.
then, when i have a family and feel the need for a slower pace, i want to plan people's dream weddings. i want to make enough money that i can also throw an utter ably deserving couple their dream wedding for absolutely no cost to them.
i believe it's simple enough.

holocene.
sometimes, i think i'm against love. the more i think about it, the less i want to love anything or be in love. but, it is entirely too impossible to help myself. i can feel the need to love and be loved sinking into my pores.
i probably sound like a crazy old lady that bakes all day and has a million cats.

my new obsessions: sweaters or sweatshirts, scarves, skinny jeans, and moccasins. it's what i've worn practically every day lately.

the time of your life.
I've been visiting colleges recently.Currently, I have looked at Western Kentucky University, Austin Peay State University, and Vanderbilt. I still plan on going to University of Tennessee-Knoxville and Chattanooga. Let's go in order of worst to best from what I've seen so far.
3. Austin Peay State University
Pros: I really, really, really like their President's Emerging Leaders Program. There's a ton to get involved with. Their academics are actually really good too.
Cons: It's a total suitcase school. No one stays there over the weekend. Plus, it's in Clarksville. What the hell's in Clarksville?

2. Western Kentucky University
Pros: The campus is so nice. They have everything. Nice dorms, a free rec center, good food, a cute town. They are also in the top eight schools in the nation for journalism. (That's what I plan to do, by the way)
Cons: It is out of state, so my HOPE scholarship won't apply there.
1. Vanderbilt University
Pros: It is beautiful. The campus is in the best part of Nashville. Their programs are all connected with national and international businesses to get you connections. The food is good. The freshmen are put in houses and compete for a house cup. Just like Harry Potter.
Cons: It's so expensive...

the damned and the beautiful.
"it's you who are very romantic and young. it's you who are infinitely more susceptible and afraid of your calm being broken.it's me who tries again and again to be moved-let myself go a thousand times, and i'm always me. nothing quite stirs me. yet," he murmured after another long pause, "there was something about that little girl with her absurd tan that was eternally old-like me."

so, you turned eighteen today.
this is it. this is the last everything. what happens next? i don't know if i believe in god, but i pray for this to work.
it just has to...

awake my soul.
maybe it's your turn to ask me to do something. maybe it's your turn to say "i love you". maybe it's your turn to call me at night.
maybe it's your turn to want me...
maybe it's your turn to want me...

there are cooler ways to die.
no one realizes how much smoking really does until you go on vacation. you're in florida or somewhere with a semi-humid, warm climate. the kind that makes your make-up melt off and you hair cringe at the outdoors. all around are the elderly who have been smoking for decades. their skin resembles leather. they wheeze as they speak. their fingers have an odd tint to them. they gasp for breath walking out the door.
a cigarette still hangs from their dying lips.
a cigarette still hangs from their dying lips.
early bird gets the worm.
have you ever had one of those mornings where you just don't want to start the day? where you have to pee, but your bed is the safest place to go after that. where you're starving, so you take your breakfast back to your room. where your eyes hold their heaviness for hours after they've opened because you've refused to rub the sleep away.
those mornings don't come around enough.

beauty: trois.
to smooth an uneven complexion, don't use a toner. use a moisturizer that smooths marks AND tones skin. my skin had a completely different appearance after the first night.
i recommend: palmer's coco butter lotion for dry, cracked skin with vitamin e. $4 at wal-mart.

problem with tennessee #1
Would you like to know why Tennessee has one of the highest poverty rates in the country? Because there is no focus on education. Because Sumner County School Board cannot get an additional 5 million dollars simply to help us pay for SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS. I never thought that something so simple could be taken away from schools. This will cause our current teachers to have to teach other classes during their planning periods or combine with their class. Some of the best teachers in my school have threatened to quit if these budget cuts go through.
I want to know what our county is spending their money on if it's not schools. Are you building us more playgrounds and recreation areas? Are you helping businesses out to bring higher paying jobs to the area? Are you establishing a Boys and Girls Club, Planned Parenthood, or homeless shelter?
Dear Sumner County, what are you doing with this money?

i've been back in school for about a month now, and i'm doing pretty swell. everything's way easier than i expected it to be; however, i will be taking my first act, going to my first competition for the season, and learning much more complex things soon.
wish me luck.

please move.
Dear Dakota,
I can't believe that you're leaving in less than a year. I can't imagine not having random Sonic runs or long cuddles with deep talks on lazy Sunday afternoons.
I don't know what I'll do without you...

how this all ends.
I've been desperate to find books to read, and in my search, I've rediscovered some of my favorite books that are living in my shelves.
1. The Feast of Love by Charles Baxter.
"The problem with love and God, the two of them, is how to say anything about them that doesn’t annihilate them instantly with the wrong words, with untruth. . . . In this sense, love and God are equivalents. We feel both, but because we cannot speak clearly about them, we end up–wordless, inarticulate—by denying their existence altogether, and, pfffffft, they die."
2. Set This House in Order: A Romance of Souls by Matt Ruff.
"...acknowledge evil, without being consumed by it."
3. The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.
"I can't explain myself, I'm afraid, sir, because I'm not myself you see."
4. A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle.
"Like and equal are not the same thing at all."
5. Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson.
"She loved you, you know that?"

so, i will be starting my junior year of high school bright and early monday morning. i am partially really excited since that means fall and marching band competitions and warmer, cuter clothing. however, it means that my school days are almost over, and soon i'll be in college having my own adventures. don't get me wrong. i am waaaay too excited for college. i just don't think i'm ready to be an adult.

marching bands of manhatten.
today was the first day of band camp. to fill you guys in, i play second bass drum in our line, and i am also our section leader. this is my fourth year with my beech buccaneer brigade.
last year was a terrible, terrible year. we had leaders that either didn't care or were like nazis. no one wanted to be there. no one wanted to care, so no one did. we wasted so much time doing nothing. i honestly thought i was going to quit. however, my mom convinced me it was simply a bad year and to give it one more try.
she was so right. this year is a complete turn around. even though most of section are underclassmen, they are catching super quick for having never done this before. they could march better than any other section on the field today and gave everything to learning their new music.
i must say, i am ecstatic for this season.

i will possess your heart.
i had a revelation this week.
i have a very limited style. it's not that i cannot create one that i like because when i try, i do. i am a lazy lady. i have absolutely no patience for waking up in the morning to make my hair, face, and clothes look good. but then i realized that to succeed in this world, you need to dress well. you must put some effort forth. that's what i have decided to do.
i have a petite hourglass figure. so, i'm going to be pulling out the high waisted skirts, v-necks, flats, floral dresses, cardigans.
examples:
and i'm going to use styles from my favorite iconic women:
it's time for me to suck it up and be a big girl. and big girls are glamorous.

mischief managed.
yes, i do realize that it was just a movie.
yes, i do realize that there is no reason for me to have this deep bittersweet.
however, i do not care.
harry potter has been a huge part of my life for the past ten years. i can't imagine not waiting for the excitement of a new movie, new book, new soundtrack. i feel like my childhood is leaving way too fast. this is such a representation of me having to grow up. it's time to move on.
j.k. rowling, thank you for opening my mind to reading. thank you for showing kids and adults all over the world how to access their imagination. no one has the talent that you do. no one can change lives this way.

to soften a smokey eye quickly, take a light colored powder and dust it over you eyelids with a fluffy brush. this eliminates much of the harshness and blends your make-up.
i reccomend: lavender from wet-n-wild's lust six pack. $4.35 at pick n save.

you are a tourist.
je suis anxieux.
i miss traveling to places worth going. hopefully, i'll finally get to go to denver, st. lucia, new york, north carolina, chattanooga, and all that jazz within the upcoming school year. i have a need for a change of scenery.
until then, i'll satisfy this thirst with memories.
